Your Rights

RIGHT TO ORGANIZE A UNION
There is a lot of concern about talking union while on Americorps time, but your rights to engage in union concerted activity are guaranteed in Section 7 of the National Labor Relations Act:
Employees shall have the right to self-organization, to form, join, or assist labor organizations, to bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing, and to engage in other concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining or other mutual aid or protection.
This clause is also included in the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Act:
Section 5. Rights of Employees.
Employees shall have the right to self-organization, to form, join or assist labor organizations, to bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing, and to engage in concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining or other mutual aid or protection.
Also, the United Nations International Declaration of Human Rights, which is cosigned by the United States, reads
Article 23, Section 4 " (4) Everyone has the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his interests."
